Picture-Lock. It’s coloring time.
The Royal Street flavor is steadily developing itself. This screen cap was taken a few days ago, so the project has progressed a significant amount – enough to say we’ve probably got a pretty solid rough cut. Can’t wait until we start to color this monster! We shot about 4.5 hours of footage and need to condense it to about 12 minutes. Moving every thing into the Avid was an adventure. The workflow seems pretty smooth once every thing is transcoded from the camera card. Not quick though - takes about 2.3x the duration of an individual clip to import. For this project, I’m a fan of the Avid DNxHD 175 X codec. Looks gorgeous.
Here’s a fresh photo from my man James Biscardi. I couldn’t be happier with this shot, mostly because it captures my favorite pair of kicks in an amazing light. That Nikon D3s looks pretty nice, doesn’t it?
When you’re an editor, you’re like a babysitter. The director has to drop off their baby with you for the day - maybe even days on end - and they need to trust you to take care of it. Make sure the child gets fed. Entertain the child. Keep the child happy, so that when mommy or daddy comes back at the end of day, they’re happy with what they see. They know that their child has been treated with care and given the utmost attention towards their fragile, detailed emotions.
The latest. A band around my left forearm that reads “Smile. Love. Remember.” Still waiting on this baby to heal. Shouts to AJ at Royal Street Tattoo for making this happen! Can’t wait to get this documentary together. We start cutting this weekend, and we’re expecting good things!
